IYKYK (if you know you know). Industry folks know that Family Meal is when the team gets together to scarf down whatever meal one of the Chefs felt like cooking up before service starts. It’s time for the team to come together.
Join us as we kick off our Festival with a special Palestinian Family Meal curated by Chef Reem Assil from Reem’s California. Experience the diverse and delicious Palestinian food journey, from the land to the sea, through a multi-course Family Meal.
This is more than a meal – it’s a celebration of culture and flavors. Secure your spot for a night of culinary delights and cultural richness at our Festival launch!

- An intimate multi-course Palestinian feast complete with Mezzes (small plates), Bread, Main Dishes, and Dessert all served Family Style (aka large shared plates)
- Wines & Spirit Pairings provided by Palestinian women owned Terah Wine Co & Terra Sancta Imports

100% of profits from this dinner will be donated to nonprofit The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
Meet Chef Reem Assil
Reem is a two-time James Beard Award Semi-Finalist for Best Chef West, San Francisco Magazine’s 2018 Chef of the Year and San Francisco Chronicle’s 2017 Rising Star Chef.
Reem Assil is a speaker & chef based in Oakland, CA working at the intersection of food, community, and social justice. With food as a tool, Reem uses Arab hospitality to build strong, resilient community.
Reem Assil founded Reem’s with a passion for the flavors of Arab street-corner bakeries and the vibrant communities where they’re located. Growing up in a Palestinian-Syrian household, Reem was surrounded by the aromas and tastes of food from the homeland and the connections they evoked of her heritage, family, and community.
Before dedicating herself to a culinary career, Reem worked for a decade as a community and labor organizer, and brings the warmth of community to all her events. She has worked with the Bay Area’s esteemed cooperative bakery Arizmendi Bakery & Pizzeria, Grace Street Catering, Local Flavors, and several local chefs. She is a graduate of the the competitive food business incubator program, La Cocina. and business accelerator program ICA: Fund Good Jobs.
Reems San Francisco
Reem’s California is a nationally-acclaimed Arab bakery and restaurant based in the Bay Area. We connect people across generations, backgrounds, and experience through the warmth of Arab bread and hospitality. More than just a restaurant, Reem’s is an anchor space in the neighborhoods it is in, providing healthy, nourishing food to the community, dignified living wage jobs with career pathways, and a sense of home for all at a time when home has become elusive.
Meet Terah Wine Co
A native Californian, Terah refined her unique style and found her love of wine by way of food and from her travels across the globe. She started her professional career in the hospitality industry studying at the International Culinary Institute in California. She then spent time working in wine bars, a Michelin-starred restaurant, wine education, and consulting in the Bay Area.
Terra Sancta Trading Company
Terra Sancta Trading Company is a boutique import company founded and operated by Palestinians in the diaspora.
Our company tenants are; Indigenous Grape Varietals, Traditional Production Methods, Culture and History, and Connection to the Land. The Vision of Terra Sancta Trading Company is to share the revival of the ancient wine, beer and spirit making traditions of the South West Asian North African regions with the U.S. Market. This by way of a diverse, unique and quality-focused supply of products originating from the cradle of wine civilization.
Terra Sancta represents the culture and history of the Middle East and the Ancient World wine region from Morocco to Armenia. Our producers are diverse including women, refugees and family-wineries. They are all small production, and largely low intervention. They source from cooperatives and ancestral estates. Our products are a reflection of the land and people who make them, and we are honored to share them with the world.”
